About Kurds for Labour
Our Mission
Kurds for Labour is an organisation dedicated to representing and advocating for Kurdish communities within the Labour Party. Our mission is to provide a unified voice for the Kurdish population, promoting their interests and ensuring their active participation in the political process.
Our Aim
We aim to bridge the gap between the Kurdish community and the Labour Party, ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of Kurds in the UK are heard and addressed. We strive to foster political engagement, encourage community cohesion, and support Kurdish candidates and members within the Labour Party.
Our History
Kurds for Labour was officially launched on January 26, 2010, with a reception in Parliament, hosted by Harriet Harman MP. This significant milestone was attended by numerous Labour MPs, including David Miliband and Diane Abbott, among many other supportive friends. Our founding members include Cllr Ibrahim Dogus, Feryal Clark MP, and several former councillors dedicated to championing Kurdish representation within the Labour Party.
Our Activities
Kurds for Labour actively engages with the community and the Labour Party through a variety of initiatives. We organize public meetings, receptions, gala dinners, and campaign sessions. Additionally, we support Labour candidates by assisting with fundraising activities and campaign efforts. These activities help to strengthen the bond between the Kurdish community and the Labour Party, ensuring our voices are heard and our contributions recognized.
